Getting Started
Always remember that how something ends often depends on how it started. The best time to “get started” is at the beginning of your CD or DVD project. There are lots of tricks of the trade that we can discuss to make sure that your project is everything that you want and still fits your budget. We deal with MAJOR players who purchase CDs and DVDs in large and small quantities and they ask for our input to ensure that graphics, programming, budgets and schedules all come together as planned. Remember picking our brains for ideas is generally FREE! (I say generally because sometimes we are paid to consult). NOTE: Don’t even think of asking us to duplicate anything that you don’t have full rights to make copies of (we’re not that kind of company).
Questions? Expect us to ask lots!! Every CD and DVD project is a custom manufacturing operation and we strive to make certain that everyone understands EXACTLY what is going on. In addition to making sure that we don’t make a mistake, part of our job is to make sure that YOU don’t make a mistake, so if you ask for 1000 DVDs and 700 printed sleeves you can expect us to ask what happens to the other 300.
What types of graphics files can we use? In general you should see our Specifications page. If you want us to make any changes on existing art for your CD or DVD then some file types are better than others. How should you prepare your art for use on a CD or DVD? Better go to the templates section. It also has templates for some of the types of printing that frequently goes with CDs and DVDs such as Jewel Case Liners, DVD box wrap arounds, printed sleeves or booklets.
Make sure to ask about schedules. Some CD and DVD process take more time than others. Anything involving hand assembly can take time. And speaking of assembly don’t forget to ask about packaging. There are lots of CD and DVD packaging options, some (but by no means all) of which are pictured on this site.
